Cumming County Fair & Festival October 8-18, 2009


Featuring old-fashioned fairground fun for the whole family, the Cumming County Fair and Festival offers a variety of attractions from Midway carnival rides, daily ground acts, a petting zoo, fairway foods, and a lineup of great concerts scheduled throughout eleven fun-filled days of entertainment for all ages! This annual October event in Cumming, GA, began Thursday, October 8th and will continue through Sunday October 18th.

Visitors to the fair will also enjoy several educational and family-oriented Cumming Fairground attractions, like the living history exhibits featuring a 1900’s rural township with reproductions of a doctor’s office, art deco barber shop, dentist office, printing press, one-room schoolhouse, churches, general store, working post office and the Heritage and Indian Villages.

Be sure to check out the “Daily Specials” offering great discounts on admissions and rides for children, students, seniors and even a discount for visitors that present a non-winning Georgia Lottery ticket on featured days throughout all 11 days of the event.

Free Event: Forsyth Family Fest Today, September 13th

You don’t want to miss the Forsyth Family Fest at the Cumming Fairgrounds happening today, September 13, 2009!

Combine Grammy Award-winning entertainment from Toby Mac, mind-blowing stunts from Chaos on Wheels, awesome praise and worship with Steve Fee, great food and non-stop fun for the whole family and you’ve got the Forsyth Family Fest at the Cumming Fairgrounds.

And best of all, the price of admission for this day-long festival is ABSOLUTELY FREE!

This family-friendly event features attractions and activities for all ages. Children will enjoy bouncing and sliding their way through an inflatable wonderland. They can transform themselves into their favorite superhero or cartoon celebrity at the face painting tent. Arts, crafts and games will provide an interactive experience like no other.

Will Graham (grandson of Billy Graham) will be the guest speaker at 10:30 a.m and later that evening.

Recycle Electronics May 9th in Forsyth County

Forsyth County residents can continue spring cleaning by bringing old electronic equipment to be recycled at Keep Forsyth County Beautiful's (KFCB) Electronics Recycling Event. This recycling event will be held Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in parking lot 3 at the city of Cumming Fairgrounds on Castleberry Road.

During this event, KFCB will accept old computers, printers, cameras, cell phones, stereos, televisions and more to be recycled. The minimum donation per carload drop-off is $5. An additional $10 fee will apply for all acceptable televisions. Large wooden console and projection televisions will not be accepted.

"The community brought 91,278 pounds of electronics to be recycled in November," Environmental Program Manager Tammy Wright said. "We want to encourage everyone to bring old electronics set aside during spring cleaning efforts to be recycled in May."

Taste of Forsyth This Weekend April 19, 2009

The seventh annual “Taste of Forsyth” will be held this Sunday, April 19th from 12 – 5pm at the Cumming Fairgrounds. All proceeds from the Taste of Forsyth will go to the building of the new Family Haven shelter that began construction in 2008.

The Taste of Forsyth is an outdoor food festival that includes local vendors, live entertainment and great fun for the whole family. Enjoy tasting the food of local restaurants, caterers, bakeries and ice cream shops while visiting the local art and craft vendors and exploring the business expo. There is something for everyone, you can even ride a pony or jump in a moonwalk at the kid’s corner.

The admission to the Cumming Fairgrounds is FREE with tickets being sold to purchase food items from each vendor. The tickets are priced at $0.50 ticket with nothing exceeding 6 tickets.

Forsyth County Family Haven, Inc. was incorporated in January 1989 to provide safe, temporary shelter, individual crisis support, and referral services for victims of violence. They are a nonprofit organization and a United Way of Forsyth County participating agency touching both Forsyth and North Fulton counties. Their services are offered free of charge to all victims of domestic violence. For more information visit www.family-haven.org.
