Cumming Events This Weekend: Christmas in Central Park Expands to Two Days

Come and join our family in Cumming, Forsyth County this weekend for a great event. The third annual Christmas in Central Park promises more fun than ever, as the event expands to two days – November 17 and 18. The event will feature unique crafts, pictures with Santa, entertainment, food concessions, train rides and more. A ‘lighting of the tree’ will take place Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

Saturday, November 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, November 18, 1 to 5 p.m.

“The success of Christmas in Central Park was evident in it's more than doubled attendance from 2005 to 2006,” said Parks and Recreation Department Program Coordinator Paula Chambers. “This, along with the continued addition of new artists, led to us making this year’s event a two-day show.”

Christmas in Central Park is presented by the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department and Sawnee Artists Association and held at the Central Park Recreation Center located at 2300 Keith Bridge Road. For more information, please call Paula Chambers at 678.455.8540.

Set Your Clocks Back - Daylight Saving Time Ends This Weekend!

Remember to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday, November 3rd, before you go to bed. The time change takes effect at 2:00am on Sunday, November 4th.

The federal law that established "daylight time" in the United States does not require any area to observe daylight saving time. But if a state chooses to observe DST, as does Georgia, it must follow the starting and ending dates set by the law. From 1986 to 2006 this was the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October. However, starting this year, it is observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, adding about a month to daylight saving time.

Have a Great Weekend, and enjoy that extra hour!
