As of May 31st, 2007, the current average mortgage rates according to Freddie Mac's Weekly Primary Mortgage Market Survey are as follows:
30-yr Fixed Rate Mortgage: 6.42% with fees & points averaging at 0.4
15-yr Fixed Rate Mortgage 6.12% with fees & points averaging at 0.4
5/1-yr Adjustable Rate Mortgage 6.19% with fees & points averaging at 0.5
1-yr Adjustable Rate Mortgage 5.57% with fees & points averaging at 0.6

With the exception of the 1-yr ARM, mortgage rates are up this week from last. All rates, however, are down from last year at the same time.

Memorial Day Weekend is here and there are plenty of activities going on in and around the Metro Atlanta area. The Georgia DOT has also announced that they will scale back their construction projects across the state – suspending related lane closures on all interstate and major state system highways – through Monday to ease Memorial Weekend traffic congestion. Beginning at 5 a.m., Friday, May 25, and continuing until 10 p.m., Monday, May 28, there essentially will be no scheduled lane closures on any Georgia interstate highway or primary state route. So pack up the family and check out these exciting events:

Lake Lanier: Atlanta's favorite playground, with beaches, plenty of water to cruise around in, hiking trails, fishing and family activities. Just plan to be safe, as the lake gets very crowded on 3-day weekends. Perhaps consider Lake Lanier Islands Beach & Waterpark for a day of fun in the sun.
