The 12th Annual Polar Bear Swim, organized by the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club, will start at 2 p.m. January 1, 2009 at the Olympic venue off Clarks Bridge Road.
Due to ongoing drought conditions, the high jumps cannot be used. Jumpers will use the docks on the finish tower side of the venue.
Prizes will be awarded to the best themed costume and best jump.
Hot chocolate, coffee and pastries will be offered prior to the jump, and club members will be cooking chili to help the brave jumpers re-heat afterward. All jumpers will get a T-shirt and the first tax write-off of 2009.
Early registration ended on December 20th, but there is still time to register. The price is now $25 per individual and $60 per family. Admission is free for spectators.
The Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club is a 501 c3 organization for Olympic flat water canoe and kayak hopefuls.
